Falling Apart Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Falling Apart

“The bible says God’s ever there!
You’re love will flow in streams
But I’m alone in deep despair
At least that’s how it seems

My life is falling all apart
There’s nothing I can do
But if my God You’re in my heart
Then why have I this view?

Depressed and lost, confused inside
I feel I’m standing still
How much my God to You I’ve cried
How much I’ve sought Your will

I see my life and take account
But still so much is wrong
Have I the right to climb Your mount?
Do I in Christ belong?

It’s hard for me to carry on
It’s hard to stand the strain
Allow Your will in me be done
Revive this child again

There’s none too far You cannot reach
Too lost, that can’t be found
Too dumb, the values that You teach
Can’t raise to higher ground

In truth I seek to rise again
In faith to understand
To doubt the doubts that yet remain
And take my Saviour’s hand

For that, I can’t be on my own
Inside! I need to burn
The Holy Ghost of Christ alone
Can lead to my return”…
