Fallen Dreams Poem by Cathryn Martin

Fallen Dreams

Rating: 3.5

The man I once loved, he left me,
He went off with someone new,
Said he would forget me,
And I should forget too.

A couple years have passed now,
And as I walk out my door,
There he is lying there
Curled up on the floor.

He's cold and he's homeless,
His business down the drain,
Wants me to lend him money,
So he can start again.

I feel sorry for him of course,
But what can I do,
He said he would forget me,
Now I've forgotten too.

I'd finally got over the shock,
Of him leaving the first time,
I've found my soulmate now,
And soon he will be mine.

We're getting married next week,
I have no money to spare,
Off he goes in a dream land,
With only a chocolate eclair.
