Faith Test Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Faith Test

Faith Test

Recently failed my test
It was the test of faith.

When a child, my parents
For me were examples
I listened, observed them.

Joyful were their actions,
In silence I watched them
For forming my own faith:
"Give away part of earned
From the farms, gardens."

They helped the good, depraved:
"Kindness can bring change."

In month of Ramadan
Dad took bags and went out.

Later when he had died
We were told what had done.

Went to doors of widows
Knocked and hid in the dark.

Made sure of orphans' moms
Opening, looking around,
Then picking what was there.

They knew not of who
Till dad's death put end to
The helping hand of poor.

Since daddy was Muslim,
I followed his steps...

Then arrived the mullahs,
On thrones, wore crowns,
Kept filling own pockets:
"Weakened my religion
Of Islam, not parents."

For years thought Christians
Are soft, kind, like Jesus…

Read books of history,
Started church going,
Saw Christian leaders
Stinking like Muslims.

Rabbis said: "We differ,
Are not worse, far better! "

Searched for my ancient one
In name of: "Zoroaster…"

All are good on surface
Pathetic their agents…

My sisters, brothers,
Men, women of all faiths
I failed in my faith Test
And this is a success:
"Rather be human."

Die for my parents' faith
In any colour, shade.

Surely mosque and the church
And shrines before them
And many long after
Are nothing but sources
Of the faiths' business,
One among many is:
"Gospel for Asia! "

All, steal, cheat and lie
And eat us while alive.

They tell us of pagans
Curse Savage, Squaw,
Insult "Uncivilised, "
Sell Heaven of God and,
Scare us of the Hell!

Wow, a great poem. An amazing depiction of the reality known as religion. Many names and forms but destroyed, dismantled and twisted to the point that " All, steal, cheat and lie, And eat us while alive" . Thanks for sharing and I added it to my poem list.
