Eyed Dreams Poem by Nika McGuin

Eyed Dreams

Rating: 4.0

In your wide-eyed dreams
doesn't it all go right?
What about shut-eyed dreams -
do they get entangled in the night?
And reality? Merely a mirror and an unforgiving light.

"Hold on to your dreams! " they say.
Here, I've been trying with all my might.
but loneliness, the true thief of joy,
threatens to ensnare me in a pitiful plight
meanwhile...

Shut-eyed
cross-ankled
I hear the rain
pattering upon fresh blossoms
just beyond my windowsill
and ponder if my dreams
will ever bloom
will ever bear fruit
will ever seed.

A beautiful poem. 'but loneliness, the true thief of joy, threatens to ensnare me in a pitiful plight' - so well said, poetically!
