Expired Experiences Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Expired Experiences

People will come to make,
Their own conclusions.
And most of them will be based,
On what they have seen...
At the movies or home to watch,
Attentively on wide TV screens.

Reality and the truth of it,
Many of today's youth have never known.
Or encouraged to think independently.
With minds to use alone on their own.
Without seeking a thought process,
Sought bought and sold...
At a marketplace told where to go.

Manipulated to limits,
People are made and grow to be.
Accepting this conformity as a normalcy.
And whatever it is that is purchased to buy,
Soon becomes outdated to update.
Like those who have aged yet considered old.
Although with experiences to have acquired,
Yet believed to have long expired.
To regard as useless to respect.
Or having no interest to listen.
With a paying attention undivided given.
