Everything Remembers Everything Poem by Mark Nichols

Everything Remembers Everything

Everything remembers everything
The elephants in the room
The medicine men
And the test tube men
The little girls who clap and sing
The telescopes and the careful popes
Everything remembers everything

As it is out there
It is in here
As with you, with me
In the rear view mirror
In the foam on this beer
The good book and the microchip
The water drip in the mighty sea
As they are so R we
Everything remembers everything

I won't waste my time
Forgetting
Those waves come in reborn
And sands record the ripple
Baby to nipple
Wax cylinders survive like the 45
Still there, still there, and still alive
Everything remembers everything

Don't worry about forgetting
Or lose yourself to trying
With careful quill
Etched into the lovely until
And the dreams of spirits smiling
Always there
