Chastity Poem by Mark Nichols

Chastity

[Thanks to Bob McAllister]

My life is not my own
I'm locked like a box
With a key that no one gives to me
They don't understand how I long for a man
Who can release me

From a vow of chastity
From a vow that someone made for me
I don't know who or what I'll be
So for now I'll be chastity

And I don't want much but-
I want a man who'll stare into my eyes
and forget what he just said
I want a man who'll sound the bells of my heart
While still engaging my head
A man who's somewhat strange
With a way with children and a bit of a clown
Quick to smile and eager to dance
And the best thing is
I'll meet him by chance!

I have seeds I've never sown
Like a sound of a song
With a tune that no one sings to me
Will somebody come and take me away?

From a vow of chastity
From a vow that someone made for me
I don't know who or what I'll be
So for now I'll be chastity
