Everybody Cries Poem by Paula Glynn

Everybody Cries

Rating: 4.5

From innocent young childhood
To mature and deep adulthood
My wonderful parents taught me
To value and treasure myself
In spite of the misery in the world

They taught me all I know
They gave me the emotional building blocks
That make up complex adult life
Building blocks that always protect me
From others damaged minds

I look after number one
I look after my reputation
I look after my appearance
I look after my soul
I look after my health

But I do sometimes cry:
I think everyone cries
Everyone hurts as R.E.M sang
A song more important than money
A song written from experience

I don't regret my life or who I am
Even when problems arise
But they are never a surprise
Because I am not sorry to cry
Because I am very much alive.
