Encountering Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Encountering

Rating: 2.7

Those dark eyes hypnotize
promising
fruits of the carnal tree-
of the knowledge of soft limbs-
of sweet lips and dark gardens
where joys reigns;

and I taste of it
eagerly
and you offer it
teasingly
because in this
your and my excitement reigns:
as we live both sides
of this encounter in which
nothing
exceeds
need and hidden desire
laying down to co-exist.

I place my vunerabilities
on the red rose floor;
you lick your lips
arresting my breath
which releases
as you quiver
inside its
anticipation being
thrust down to abandonment.

I allow my sincerity
to glow in dim light;
your dark eyes present
both shadow and substance;
dual excitements
grabbling
in the interstices
of the sincerely offered
and innocence;
of rejections memories
and long sought after vindications
announcing:
'I am not what they said I was, '
and you enter into
the condundrum pit
which asks 'Can enticement
and innocence co-exist?

I place on the Question Carpet
the grappling
of desire
and professed love
deeply breathing;

four variables
in the starry night
upon which
the future of the species
encapsulates;
individual
need
and the inevitable
drive toward
fulfillment.

Explosions explode,
minds meld
and the ceiling spins away;
as we dream-time away
the night
intoxicated.
