Empty Days Poem by Alex McCullough

Empty Days

There are so many empty days in a life, so how are you gonna use them?
Sitting in the house with my friends,
Wondering what kind of mission life will send us out on today,
Since I think it's about time to stop letting time slip through our hands,
The sun rises over the horizon, bringing a new day into motion,
Going out to party with the friends that'll always be behind you,
Fighting with an undying passion to win,
Falling in love with an unfamiliar face,
Or just sitting on the rooftop, watching the lavender moon shine,
Even if all these memories start burning away with time,
I'll use the love from the days we spent together to bring them all back,
So we can once again run through the fields on empty days,
Standing by the broken wall of dreams behind us,
Wondering where we should go from here on,
Let's just start by throwing time to the wind,
And living our lives with an unknown ambition,
Filling them with the hopes and dreams that we have now,
That is how we'll use these empty days of our lives.
