Empty Poem by Gil MAHANEY

Empty

All of you
Empty ones
Who sang wailing
At the moon
And danced
In the sun
Joyful confusion
Under the cover
Of your laughter
Blinded to the
Of the one thing
That truly sustains
You
Oh love
What of the tears
You spill emotions
Like blood you
Self inflicted
Oh you bleed
Carelessly savoring
Only what you crave
Bewildered and forever
Starved of the love
You need
Empty
You are clever
Say you aren’t wise
Long may you live
But not enough
To realize that the
Life you’ve led
Hearkens back to you
With a hollow ring
Just to let you
Know you’re dying
As you‘ve lived
Empty
