Emptiness In My Heart Poem by Melissia Ann Senter

You took my love and discarded it
like a piece of trash onto the street.
Did you ever care?
Was I not the one who was there with you 21 years?
That didn't matter to you.
All you wanted was a one night stand with her,
Your lady friend who made you pay $20.00 for your services.
You say you love me and always will
Why couldn't you just tell her that
on that one fateful night
you took her to your bed? Was she worth it?
Did she make your dreams come true?
I have nothing left in my heart
because the day I found out about you and her
my world was shattered, my heart was broken
and I was left empty.
You were my life for 21 years.
Now I have to find a way to pick up the pieces of my shattered world
and broken heart that is so empty and go on with my life.
How could you, after 21 years, take another woman to bed
then tell me I have not heart, that I am so cold hearted?
I can't let you back into my life.
The emptiness in my heart I feel is not fair to me.
I was there raising our kids while you worked all the time.
I have tried to love you again
but the love just won't come back. to me
You say we can make it work if I would just open up my heart again
but I can't you see.
The pain in my heart from this emptiness is more than I can bear.
You took my heart and played me for a fool
not once but twice with my so called best friend.
How can one just forgive and forget and go on with life as it was?
I can't do this because you killed my love for you
when you laid with that home wrecker.
I think you both did this to see if it would hurt me
and now you both laugh at me because I was the fool.
I will never be able to forgive you
nor will I ever forget what you both have done to me.
The emptiness in my heart will never be made whole again
because I will never be able to trust
not just you but anybody else that says he loves me.
Chances are my heart will always be filled with this emptiness.
