Elsewhere, Unvisited Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Elsewhere, Unvisited

I too have orbited Earth in stages, by aircraft lounges,
Over years of working life, a stranger both keen and chary.
I have seen tourist spots, paid homage to some Wonders.
I have heard of Sir Thomas More's "Utopia", an ideal state,
Which he imagined in 1516. He did not know of Dystopia,
Available in SF and on TV four centuries later.

I have seen landscapes, seascapes, sky-scapes, Xanadu,
Stirred to the euphony of words, their shades and waves;
But I have always longed to visit a secret paradise I call
‘Elsewhere'.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When I travel, I like to experience not only the famous sights, like
the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but the strangeness, the novelty of, say, a stroll along a plaza in Beijing or Rome, an art gallery, a distant view of Mount Fuji in Japan..
