Early Wakeup Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Early Wakeup

Early wakeup

It is half after five
In my bed I lie down.

Full awake, I feel a
Stinking bad smell
Of a bug or skunk.

Suspicious, as we are
I think of sickness of
The virus that is now
Destroying our life.

"Can it be related? "
I wonder, and question.

With this thought
I cannot, relax and
Close eyes…

Am worried that I can
Be the cause of the harm
By keeping a tight mouth,
Get up and go to books
"I must read, I must read."

Thoughtfully read of girls
In time when men rebelled
Against the occupiers,
(In, around Prairies…)

Were women caught in it?
Or did they willingly
Join in to fight for the deed?

I think of being forced
To select and choosing
To escape, keep running
Or go to the fronts bravely,
On pages that read, encounter
The Metis standing, declaring:
"Manitoba; Our State! "

Corona virus is destroying our lives and this incidence of epidemic is so sad. We should be very careful to counter this virus. We should use mask and keep social distance. A brilliant poem is excellently penned for bringing social awareness.
