Drug Addict - Belated Remorse Poem by Charles Hughes

Drug Addict - Belated Remorse

Rating: 5.0

Leave me be, content to suckle
Contentedly imbibing my delusory elixir
The replete nourisher of my soul
With longing I taste its sweet nectar
Smug invader, coursing unabated
Intent on possessing me whole
Unawares, a devilish enchantress has cast her spell
My will and purpose are exacted as tribute

Enslaved, my heart and soul sorrowfully relent
This despotic master knows no compassion
Demands obedience, daily offerings to quell her wrath
I have foolishly unleashed the Three Furies
The Three Daughters of Mother Earth and Darkness

Their abode, deep in the underworld, where I too now abide
Regrets abound, groping, I blindly seek my way back
Back before hope and desire turned to torment and despair
Back before I bargained away my soul
Back before my weary existence was filled with sorrow and dread
Back before I foolishly entered Hades, the world of the dead

For hardcore drug addictions...........the living daylights were only temperament to their feeds, and most of their life were in total darkness, with no hope to gain conciousness of whats goin on far and beyond their surroundings or circles. They tried to quit but they can't coz every day will be an increasing doses and addictions........to keep on stayin alive, or rather afresh! Its a living HELL! Great writes from you Charles! ! ! Best wishes, Sulaiman aka Brett
