Dreams Poem by Marcquiese Burrell

Dreams

Dreams of you have taken form
In a place known to man as paradise
In reality, I know we can not ever be
So my mind drifts away into a fantasy
Escape from the cold world temporarily
The emotion taken over leads me astray
Reality is harsh on my heart it does weigh
You give me a little bit of respect
Understandably, my fondness of you is growing
You're beautiful in my eyes, perfect
there is nothing like just knowing
of a feeling that captures your heart
then i awake to a world so cold and lonely
where the one I love don't even notice me
I continue to dream that dream
that will have my heart gleam
though, in reality, you may not recognize
all what I feel for you from deep inside
this virgin heart has experienced so much
within that moment that we would touch
it would ignite a feeling, a spark of passion
between two perfect strangers in an unusual fashion
in reality it doesn't seem
this dream is but a dream
