Do Over Poem by John Ode

Do Over

An erratic beat is the last thing I need,
I've got teeth to grind and a nose to feed
Don't listen too intently to the rhythm of my tongue,
This dance and this song have already been sung

But if you can strip away the plaque,
If you can find a way to take me back
Before cynicism took my soul,
Before anger devoured it whole

I know I'd see with children's eyes,
The good in men I came to despise
I know I'd see a world worth a second glance,
A world worth a second chance.
