Distracted Poem by David Blake

Distracted

On a lonely day early in May I net a
girl who claimed to have no name.
I asked her where she was going,
and she said “nowhere”. I followed
her for awhile she said little and I
pretended not to care. I was aware
that the clouds where drifting slowly
through the sky and the eyes of the
wildflowers seemed to smile. She
wondered on through the meadow
towards the sun. She was there
and then she was gone yet in my
memory she remained then and
now there she will forever remain,
the girl who claimed to have no
name. Somehow I knew we would
met up again but now as I have
grown old I know from where she
had come and now like then I am
still not afraid.
