Digging Deep, Poetically Speaking Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Digging Deep, Poetically Speaking

Through my eyes
Straight into my heart
Feeling lethargic
In these visions
That holds me hostage
Upon what is believed
Upon what could be achieved

Coldness outside
Darkness comes early
Clouds greying over the blue
The sun at this time stands no chance

No motivation at this moment
Body feels like a laden foundation unmovable
Untraceable to the sounds of nature’s calling
Gloomy visions ever so drowning
Underneath the currents of seasonal affliction

Is it all just an illusion?
What is truly real?
This mind and heart must make an illusion
Becoming a light full of warmth on its very own merit

And these tears
They shall turn aqua blue
In a tropical warmth setting
Where this imagination creates
A world of its very own

Must feel the sun within my dreams
As I ignore the clouds gray grave demise
With a smile ever so radiant
All in the name of love as a whole
Existence with myself and of course others before me

I have to be strong
Even if these feelings feel alone
To dream of light of warmth even if metaphoric
Is worth inner peace of my better days ahead

My motivation will be strong again
Love and all of its many forms
Will show me the way
Someway, Somehow

I cannot be afraid
Got to believe in light when its dark
Someway, Somehow

All happiness to be it, to be around it
Well that is all up to me

Down to, downward mobility

My heart it sings for a life’s brand new lease
I hope there is something strong that believes in me
