Different Poem by Elisia Diaz

Different

I will let go
when I want
It is my life
They are not the counsel I've sought

I run my own river
they run theirs
I walk my own roads
I climb different stairs

I dance to different music
They sing to a different song
I am on a different page
But, I don't see this as wrong

While their boats are far at sea
Mine is closer to shore
Yes, I may be young
With none of the experience of old ones from before

I may flap my wings
To a different beat
But I have to make mistakes
I have to live for me
