Diamonds In The Rough Poem by Almira Bausley

Diamonds In The Rough

Rating: 5.0

As I turn to look around me all I see is death
And I shed a tear for those who’ve fallen
and keep marching on in my stead
It’s ironic how many have died on this road that leads to eternal life
It could be kind of discouraging at times
The righteous hearts are defiled
as they are consumed with their minds
The innermost thoughts can run so deep
but in the openness of heaven To God they loudly speak
Nothing is hid which not one day shall be revealed
The storm is going to come
Will you remain as a tree still standing still?
Or like the chaff scattered abroad in the midst?
Living out the day and worried about tomorrow
doesn’t life have more meaning than this?
You may despise me with the hate ground between your teeth
And your cold heart may hurt me when it pumps out those bitter lies
But when the sky comes crashing into the sea
Look up that’s where I’ll be
Reigning with my king
The ways of the self righteous die cold
Because none is righteous
but the one who broke us from Satan’s hold
Let not your light go dim
keep it burning bright
The wind is like his spirit
and the wind creates the fire’s might
The only way we can see a rainbow is through both light and rain
So look ahead brighter days await
There are some blind men who can behold beauty
And some men who can see God
So if faith comes by hearing
Why do we waste our time trying to see
what cannot be saw?
Only through the word that pierces and breathes in life
Can the struggler break his strife
The race we run is not of the swift
Nor is the battle to the tough
But the prize goes to those who endure to the end
The diamonds in the rough.
