Despite Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Despite

Despite

See, see not, in dark night
Despite of the weak light.

Look at sides, as always;
Well-aware that workers
Are on roads, cold, tired.

Something lies on asphalt;
Fearsome, suspicious.

Can it be a raccoon? Hit and run?
Or maybe squirrel? Or skunk?

Could also be frogs in the fall?

How about a baby, abandoned?

"Hope isn't elderly, handicap,
Or the girl-student, after job
Wanting to save time, but..."
Echo in blood cells; of the heart.

Decreasing the speed of my car
I avoid trouble of same kind;
Cautiously use brake, slow down.

See nothing but some leaves
Gathered like refugees
Forcefully scattered all around;
In reserves and on roads,
With, without barricades.

Mass of leaves hug, cuddle;
Hope to face little care!
Do they talk, nag or whine?
Do they damn the hard life?

Keep thinking and asking
Crazy, wild questions…

What to do? Am poet!
