Desperately Seeking Courage..... Poem by Annie Mark

How shall I tell you?
Fingers normally supple freeze up
Words are stuck in my craw
And my heart falls over its own beat at the thought
I laugh with you as I panic inside
That your smile will not reach your eyes
And your laughter which fills me with warmth
Will leave me to chill cold winters without
Blue skies mock me
And the flaming red of autumn reminds me
Of the passion that I have put in a freezer.
…I wonder if you will defrost me……..
