Desolate Fox Poem by Prasad Natarajan

Desolate Fox

Grazing over the leftover blades of grass,
Those sheep's go on bleating throughout the noon,
So are those buffalo's like dark clouds that pass,
Lonely thorny shrub dancing to a futile tune,

Long necked camels walking through mirage land,
While a harrier flies across those salty plains,
Her wings of freedom like gold dust from the sand,
Only shadows from my cracking memory remains,

While a short-eared owl nesting low under a shrub,
A hare laying breathless beneath her claws,
Her sharp beak giving it a menacing scrub,
Desolate fox pup watching this with a pause.
