Desert Poem by Nalini Jyotsana Chaturvedi

Desert

Rating: 4.5

Desert

Who said
Deserts
Were just
Dry Sand
A barren
Unliveable
Inaccessible Land

In the belly
Of the dune
Lies the music
Otherworldly tunes
Beats of Chang
Breath of algoza
Charms of colours
Not country of ruins

Regal camels
With long strides
And the gypsies
Chromatic site
Tents pitched up
Dunes more alive

Shimmer and shine
Reflections Devine
As she turns in to
Prismatic prime
Lissome movements
Arms make signs
Tinkling anklets
Addictive than wine

Mirage mornings
Cool moonlight
A land of charisma
Mysterious rides

Movement is life
Hardships and strife
Music and dance
Desert codes so right

Patch of green
Where sand
Meets stream
A magical land
Thats oasis grand

Here we rest
Before we hit
Deserts breast
Eternal quest
Circle of life
Of mystical death
Nalini

Devine.........Divine? Gypsies........Gypsy's? I like this one very much. Wonderfuly descriptive. Rhymes nicely though you lose the rhythm once or twice.
