Depths Poem by Daipayan Nair

Depths

Everything occurs, everyone occurs
in their own depths
each entity, born with its own face,
born with a borrowed one
born to be a simplicity or a metaphor
born to be an emotion dragging along a symbol
born with opinionated actions - likeable and non likeable
born with a face - dead or about to be
None is a flower blooming forever
apart from a stain
None is a stain expecting itself to hold the mortal liveliness of a flower
Petals of a blood flower cannot be plucked again
Eyes of a live man cannot be plucked again
Love isn't just love, you murder for it
Killing isn't just killing, you love yourself for it
Each one holds its own and those of others
Tonight there is a fatal thundering and it brings smiles to me
It's sure of itself till now
and it will be sure about me after a while
It's easier for him, it's quite lifeless
apart from its usual business of monotonity
A perfect and safe routine here, is easier to follow
Life as scars and wounds, death as their limitless end,
unfathomable depths created on the skin of a perfect land
It was all out of differences and a destruction
Once, it had decided to cool down, suppressing its anger thousands of miles inside
The birth of an entity got divided right here
Whatever it had decided to hold later,
met the partial exhalation through a pyre,
partial burial in a heart
beings like us and non beings like us -
pre-planned decisions with unwanted ghosts.
