Depression Poem by Aurora Andersch

Depression

Rating: 5.0

Depression is the demon
That affects many different people
It has no prime choice
It saps the strength from it host
Makes them feel like there's no hope
It makes them feel like they're worth nothing
Or makes them feel so much worse
Depression causes their eyes to grow shallow
Taking that sparkle from their eye
Stealing that light from their soul
Depression can cause bad things to happen
Taking away the lives
Young and Old
Male and Female
Lives of those who have gone
They lose their hope
It causes them to avoid help
So it won't have a hard time taking them
Without the help
And without that love
They wither away slowly breaking
They want to get better
Its not a choice that they make
They simply don't wake up and say
"This will be another bad day'
They have no choice
They try to combat it the best they can
They will soon lose hope
There will be no turning back
This demon has had this hold on them for so long
They have no idea what to do
But that demon whispers in there ear
Making them feel and think
Things that should never cross the mind
This demon try's to take them
Take them away forever
It's a last cry for help
Stand up to help
Say I'm here
Don't lie but be truthful
Don't leave because it hurts so much more
Show them you care
Be there with them every step of the way
They need you
Now more than anything
Giving them hope
Even if it's a sliver
For that sliver can save the life
That that demon tried to so kindly take

Depression causes their eyes to grow shallow Taking that sparkle from their eye Stealing that light from their soul... Depression seen a devil who hovers around the victim talking to him day in and day out only negative and worthless ideas which the patient believes. such people need you, they need your physical presence which will enliven them and bring them out of depression.... thank you for this great poem and the fine advise...........tony
