Deposit Window (For Autumn And Thirst) Poem by Luke J. Holt

Deposit Window (For Autumn And Thirst)

Watch close and escape grace
Choking on water in a speeding bath of thirst
Brackish swell pressure head valve enclosure
Brown rocks
Brown rocks
Two stones in a peach puddle underfoot
No match
This mug darkly drags through soap and shame
Ballet outdoors in rain at night
Cars in pulsing outskirts
Pushing soft air in shapeless waves
Putting greens under skies of Prussian blue
Navy damned dream dark gull insane
Glimpse the endeavor on daydreams' ragged edges
Touch my arm in a boat under moonglare
Feels perfect to dream in the wet wind
Without but towards a mateless bed
Bread taketh
Bread returneth in crumbs
Spit out threads of the garden
Curling yesterday fingers
A red night for every blue dream
Hungry sleep under suns like holy kickball
The trees get stick and don't fall in death
But wait
The rain quiet
We frozen
I don't do anything
Winged horse
No combat
Clown fire nightgown explode
Some girls can induce a very organic paralysis
More natural than dogs who trail alone in the woods to die
I want to wear a hat
But the Earth's too heavy
Washing the guilt in tubs of mercury
Making steel of the liquid heart
Softening the galvanized sanctum
Advocating bedlams and tar-colored mayhem
Sleeping in the sideways torrents
Unaware of the waters
Unconcerned with the end
Or when
Shiver with the cold monsters in Hell
At the crag's summit with my war elephant
Punish myself with a tentative dance with a seductive, rueful scorpion
Vultures
Vultures
Fear and thirst
Hate and horror
To see bright light in the attic dark for a century
Paper face like on money cracks in the rays
Anvils steep ride down
No sense in gazing
There are alarms that see the ravens
Watch the foul wheels
What?
To sit with you on hay in sun?
With withered, flattened grass beneath?
Tiger-russet agate plaid weather window
Flannel wimple temperate musket
Someone have a yard party
Before the planet fakes its death in the cold again
