Denial Poem by Shruti Goswami

Denial

Rating: 5.0

I do not want to be me;
Don’t you see?
Can’t you feel?
Or have your senses gone numb?
Don’t you follow me? Speak up
Or can’t you? Are you Dumb?
Pray tell me; what the words are…
That you need to hear.
I will tell you,
Loud and clear.
Only, do not tell me
Can’t afford to be near,
It hurts me, more than you could ever compare.
Near or far, wherever you are,
I am melting away,
Wasted, I am.
Like a forgotten candle;
Whose flickering light, burns with all its might.
To give your night, its share of twilight.
Spare me then, this cruel refrain,
Of shying away, again and again,
And allow me,
To be one,
With your raw soul;
Under the sun.
