Democracy A Farce Poem by Mamta Agarwal

Democracy A Farce

Rating: 5.0

Medical science advances with giant strides
State out of sync with the pulse of times.

A law abiding couple’s plea to abort rejected
While female infanticide illegally rampant.

Political masters
Just wielding power.

Antiquated laws
Reveal the basic flaw-

Indian State
Decides its citizens’ fate.

Did we hear Constitution provides
Some Fundamental Rights?

Govt. for the people, by the people, of the people
Nay, simply without vision and principles

Citizen’s; look askance.
Democracy a farce.

BASED ON news that a Mumbai couple’s plea to High Court to abort the unborn child, whom the doctors have prenatally diagnosed as having a serious heart problem, has been rejected. Thus forcing the parents and child to a life of inexplicable misery.

It all depends on bringing proper enactment based on practical vision of life...Judiciary can't help here as long as the law exits...The law here is as inclined towards merciless giving births as it is against mercy killing... the poem voicing on a social humanitarian theme...ten vote
