Rating: 3.0

At 15, taking a stroll with my mother
On a cool summer night after dinner,
Ma, one question always nags my mind
What is it she softly asked, my child?

How can one spend a life time with one man?
Doesn’t it get boring after a short span?
As we sat on the bench, she looked at me
Yes, it needs commitment we don’t foresee.

In the first flush of love when you are getting acquainted
You love everything as you are smitten and infatuated.
But slowly it begins to sink that nobody is perfect
We have feet of clay, disillusioned you come to accept.

But as you come to know each other better,
And are growing up and raising a family together.
You are overcome with love, respect and acceptance
And enjoy each other’s company even in silence.

Her words resound, although she is no more,
As I wait for my man to come through the door.
I owe her my life and celebrate each and everyday
To this day, she soothes and shows me the way.

A lot to learn through relations At large, this life and its terms Rely on how much can be accepted How much can be concealed. Dear poet, yes, its so so true No one is perfect, 'He', 'She' and 'It' And...' I ' too. No point in searching for an ideal Instead try to be an Ideal See how much it costs. So much you said in this poem Just with so few lines. Wonderful, i say.

'I owe her my life and celebrate each and everyday To this day, she soothes and shows me the way.' Wonderful tribute to a wonderfully wise mother The doubts that assail a teenage mind myraid And calm, clear and correct words do impress for life! A beautiful advice most required for the new-age women To respect, admire and love her man she should understand Is not abject slavery but, show of her inner strength! Again a beautiful poem mam' on touching relationships. Do you know I found something to laugh within here It is mostly men so vain who think a woman becomes boring Here, of course you were serious, but, still I thought What a blow to ego of man even to think That he might become boring one day!
