Democracy

I cannot change the past.
Only the future.
I can't sit by the window,
and wait for you to make
up your mind.

I may have committed a crime.
But that has been
Many decade's ago.
And the burden of being white,
has played out.

I want to vote.
Unlike those whom can, but won't.
I sit in the front of the bus,
not the back.
Like you did for me, years ago.

Democracy slowly,
fades from our minds.
Was the fight worth the right,
to our home.
