Death's Roar Poem by Job Laz

Death's Roar

Today I bend to feel my feet
And knit my open path
For I must build back ‘tis once broken wall
That leads still to el-dorado
Thus my words like a spring will surge
Till the laurel wreath I wear

Bring that far cast locket of hope
Adorn me now or I fizzle like puffing smoke
For my head envisaged it before my eyes received it
Like foaming mist spreading to the brooks

My hands will nestle its lea
My blood irrigate its fruits
For to the edge of noon my thoughts will soar
Upward landing never

Take my dreams bathe your crippling knees
Cos' in my dwindle emerges a spark
That blinds the darts roaming the yards like fireflies

Embrace my fears
Make my tears yours
Halve in two my boundless anxiety
Root back the scattered touches of love

For my breath must seek no pain
But taunting scents of dahlia
If I should tumble dead
My spirit will flirt not
And my vision mightier shall be

For that Golden Fleece I will brace
Lest my end be near…

If I do leave
Forget to engrave my face upon the gale
And my ashes cast not into the sea
Spread them under the foot of men
So I soon be forgotten but
My ghoul be seen prowling the fields

Chase me not away with jinx
But sing my comet-like frame to sleep
That I may wake at sunup to bathe your sons
And braid your daughters

Allow the wind my warmth to bear
Like the reek of alcohol
May I be fit to cobble your sandal clip

Hold not my scarlet robe
That I may make you the finest sway
And squeeze poison to rest your thirst

Flee your cradle
When my faint clack approaches
Run in terror to the spread of my arms
Lest your chin be broken by the weight of my whip

Fight not but accept my cheerful offering
The puke of my childhood…

Make me a cherry covering
Smear my kohl with ginger…

Freely pluck my sharp tooth
But be true to feed me shells of war
Singe my cloak
Chafe my spine
For my verses you can't soil

Carve me the pride of Achilles
Cut them deep on my every rib
Lay but one cenotaph to seize my charity
My worship of your tears
