Death Grants No Pardons Poem by Kristina Stockamp

Death Grants No Pardons

You ask me to speak to you
But I long ago emptied the words
from my heart into the landfill
of thin air surrounding you.
Long ago my ears became deaf
from the stentorian sounds
echoing from your fractured promises.
You ask me to understand you.
but I lack the ability to comprehend-
you worship me with every sunrise
only to persecute me at every sunset.
After vising the grave
I buried our relationship in,
and viewing the inscription
'Once I loved him'
carved on our tombstone,
you ask me to love you again,
but death grants no pardons.

Absolutely intense poem. Expression is perfect. Love the line, you ask me to love you again, but death grants no pardons. Very profound, I like it. Thank you for sharing. RoseAnn
