Day By Day Poem by Nakia Crespin

Day By Day

I run and I run,
I have no where to go anymore,
I sit and I stare,
Now I have a child in my arms,
What do I do?
Sometimes I feel as though I should keep running,
And leave my child? ,
I could never...Could I? ,
I hear him crying and rock him gently,
I hate to hear him cry,
He's crying even harder now,
Why child? Why? ,
Frustration, be quiet, Why are you crying? ,
Ugggggghhhhhh! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ,
I want to yell at the top of my lungs, SHUT UP! ,
Baby shhh, Hush little baby don't you cry mommas gonna sing you a lullaby, if that lullaby don't work, mommas gonna buy you a mocking bird........,
Twinkle, Twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are up above the world so high.......,
Slowly but surely he starts to fall asleep,
He loves my voice,
He makes me feel as though my voice is a piece of heaven,
I stand up from sitting and staring,
I hold my son so tigh,
I am alone,
And he's the reason why i can still even stand,
I turn and walk away from running,
I put my baby down and watch him play,
Now i must take it day by day.
