Day Break Poem by Paul Sebastian

Day Break

Dawn wakes to blanket the weary night
Loneliness worn now slumbers.
Dawn awakes creation to its delight,
Nature springs into a dance number.

Over the trees, crawling dawn peeps
Smiling to see what began the spree:
Yellow crowns of chrysanthemums,
With heads dewed glitter adorned jewellery.
Feather-coated choir sings the morning psalms
Kiss-greeting the flowers were the bumble bees.
Fluttering brightly-coloured-wings,
Flower-hoping were the butterflies;
Squirrels feasting on green eateries!

Between the woods, I walked
On the dry leaf-carpeted,
Light-shade checkered floor…
Breathing in nature’s perfume: fresh and raw.
A gentle breeze kissed my cold cheeks
As rustling leaves crooned on trees
Contended with dawn’s loving embrace,
Homeward I strolled, my spirit ablaze.
