Dark Voices Poem by Teresa Reck

This pit is full of dark voices
sucking me deeper and deeper within
arms reaching out to pull at me
my fight with the darkness will begin

Closer and closer to the edge I fall
balancing on this desolate pit of hell
shadows emerging from all sides
determined to penetrate and swell

Help me to escape from this hell
show me a way that I can be free
do not let me plummet into darkness
can you not hear my scream and plea

Unlock these chains that bind me
free my mind from this bottomless pit
grasp my hand and stop me falling
before I lose all will and submit
