Dark Abyss Poem by Nicole GravellPellerino

Dark Abyss

Rating: 5.0

I wander alone
in a sea of thick fog
blindly stumbling through
the dark abyss
in search of something
that is just out of reach

I come upon and abandoned pond
filled with the chilly waters
of fear and failure
throwing stones
of regret and missed opportunities
watching the ripples fade into yesterday

Staring blankly at my pathetic reflection
in the still and eerie waters
I see a depressed and broken soul
worn down from years and years
of endless torment and sorrow
and rerentless abuse

Too many days, weeks, and months
spent deep inside my tortured brain
overthinking everything
struggling daily to surpress
the hallowed sadness
hidden beneath my cheerful exterior

A heavy tightness
descends into my heart
lingering around
slyly steeling the happiness and joy
leaving only desperation and despair
in its wake
