Dare I Die Poem by Irene D..

Dare I Die

Rating: 5.0

Darest I open my eyes?
To open my eyes dare I?
For nothing I know of colours mark
Whether I find light or I find dark
Should I open these eyes of mine?

It was in cells of dungeons white
I was holding on to only mights
Couldn't grasp a yes or no
Wonder- will I ever know?

Darest I make a motion?
Darest I try such a notion?
For how shall I know that the movement I make
Is true and real, or imagined and fake?
Should I make the slightest motion?

Cold and still turns you paralyzed
And in this cold and still I lie
A sign of life against death's etiquette
To test and walk on a string so delicate.

Darest I make a sound?
Dare do a noise I arouse?
Perchance it strikes a beat in pulse of feeling
More likely draws the last of my breath fleeting
For in ice this voice be bound.

Fear does not consume with nerves unworking
Hanging between two lights, lifeless and lurking
The vagueness in mind's knowledge springs out cries
I know, I think, that to think and know I must try.

Darest I open my eyes?
To open my eyes dare I?
For nothing I know of colours mark
Whether I find light or I find dark
Should I open these eyes of mine?

Opening up the protective sheet
Darkness's depth- down 2 feet
Quenched breaths- down 4 feet
Pale enveloped, the string breaks- falling 6 feet.
