Dancing On Coals Poem by Vianka Polis

Dancing On Coals

The pain creeps over your soul and embeds into your crevices
The heart aches and sobs because carrying that pain around changes a person
It takes the enjoyment out of life making simple tasks so difficult to do
The little things stab you in the chest
Possessing so much torture in an empathetical being discards the humanity
Feeling so hollow gives you no remorse for inflicting damage on your image
It makes it okay to damage physical properties with unprescribed medicine and liquor
It retracts you to a low place where you're encouraging the devil to dance with you
Whether it's pain or happiness, anything is better than feeling dead
You'd never want to put that burden on anyone so you avoid it at all costs necessary
You hurt them on purpose before you can do it on accident
It's hard loving someone when it's to the extremes
It's either deep agonizing sorrow, or complete bliss
It's hard loving someone when you don't love yourself
You'd give them the world but you're fighting to be on it
You can't tell them how much you're hurting because you don't want them to ever feel the way you do
You don't want them to come remotely close to that place
Forbidden feelings take a toll
It's scary to be jealous of child because you were once that happy kid
Instead of dancing on clouds you're simmering on coals
I need to let go of the Devil's grasp
