Dancing On Broken Glass Poem by Krystal McLennan

Dancing On Broken Glass

Crash, crash, bang and crash,
The glass shatters under my feet.
I try to dodge the sharp edges,
But I seem to step on them all.
Jump and leap to avoid slashed feet,
Twist and turn to make an effort to move,
But nothing seems to work,
I seem to be dancing on broken glass.
Every step cuts in deeper,
The pain is there with no way to escape,
The nearer I get the further it goes,
The exit is moving,
I'm trapped in the glass,
Each shard goes deeper,
And deeper,
And deeper still,
Twist and turn and jump and leap,
Escape the pain,
It becomes stronger,
Dancing on broken glass,
Trying to run,
Trying to escape,
The pain caught up.
Dancing on broken glass,
Sliced up my feet,
Stopped me in my tracks,
Every twist and turn and jump and leap,
Didn't help me escape the pain,
From dancing on broken glass.
