I Am Poem by Krystal McLennan

I Am

I am a daughter,
With a hundred and one questions,
All for my mother,
Which are simply "WHY? "

Why did you use substances that were illegal?
Why didn't you see your daughter was in pain?
Why did you tell me I was never going to leave?
Why didn't you say that you really needed the help?

I am a sister,
With a hundred and one questions,
All for my sister,
Which are simply "WHO? "

Who did you think you were going to be?
Who didn't you see you were turning out to be?
Who did you think was going to be there for you?
Who didn't you see was there to pick you up after you fell?

I am a student,
With a hundred and one questions,
All for my school,
Which are simply "WHEN? "

When did you see I wasn't coping so well?
When didn't you see the moments all my grades dropped?
When did you realise I was slowly fading away?
When didn't you see the signs that were so obvious?

I am a person,
With only one question,
Which simply is:
"Who am I? "
