Damaged Expectations Poem by Annie Clarke

Damaged Expectations

When you wait so long
And in the end
Nothing really comes
And you sit and wonder
For what may happen next
And nothing does
Not anything of something
Not a comment then no action
Just nothing
And you wonder if
It ever will
Then you’re lost in a daydream
And you revel in the happiness
And then you catch yourself
And go lower than ever
And can't even see a hope
But still there is some
And daily it’s chipped away
And you look and you stare
And you think
Was it even there?
I made expectation
On a disappointing subject
And an expectation of anything
Is damaged forever
