Cruelty Of Money Poem by Lillianythe

Cruelty Of Money

My home is a mansion,
With gardens and stables,
Many happy servants,
And my little pet poodles,

My family dines together,
Every night,
Underneath our beautiful chandelier,
That provides us with light,

We eat our food from china,
The most expensive of plates,
Our main meal is a roast,
And after are delicious cakes,

All my life I have been spoiled,
With everything I require,
From horses to houses,
Or anything I desire,

My life is almost complete,
But there is still one thing missing,
So on all my birthdays,
I never stop wishing,

When I go to the city,
I see him sometimes,
Covered in mud,
It makes me want to cry,

I want him to have a life like mine,
Where he can play all day long,
No more stealing food to live,
Then he won’t have to do wrong,

I talk with him from time to time,
He tells such a sad story,
He manages to keep his head high,
I prey that he finds his way,

I tell him of my problems,
For my parents want me to marry,
If I do not choose a groom,
They will choose for me,

In my heart I know who to choose,
But does he feel the same,
My parents would not agree,
They would think him lame,

Though I am just sixteen,
I have to find my partner,
My parents would chose an old man,
I would rather someone younger,

The one that I would choose to marry,
Has no possessions to offer,
But I have enough to share,
And I can not find a man tougher,

I wish to be with him before I am to wed,
I do not want to marry a stranger,
Or a man with lots of wealth,
But I fear I am out of time.
