Cruelty... Poem by Hafeni Nghidinua

Cruelty...

A hyena is a cruel and wretched thing
Where most hunters would mercifully choose
To end its prey and devour it then,
Evolution never taught it such mercy
Food is food, whether dead or alive

The victim of a hyena, I feel such sorrow for,
will be devoured from its rear while fully aware
Fighting for life then begging for death
The hyena cares not for the pain
But takes cruel appreciation to the nourishment you are
Food is food... weather dead or screaming

A hyena is a cruel and wretched animal
Its laughter, a testament of its nature
Yet...
Never have I seen an animal as cruel as man
