Could Not Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Could Not

Could not

With her face in the cold
-visible and exposed
-to the unkind weather
-and the wind, a killer;
-I could not…

Could not jail my wild thoughts
-I thought of those in the Caravan
-and those in Myanmar
-and the poor young Afghan
-who was killed and buried
-on border, UAE and Oman.

Can't forget what I heard,
-and witnessed when went and
-visited the deserts, and islands
-and hilltops and mountains
-of Panjshir to Andes…

Her face looked similar
-to the ox or sheep hide
-for the shoes or jackets.

Lambs, and ox lose life to
-fill the pots and plates…

Oh, poor me since I read!
Oh, poor me with trips!
Oh, poor me with research!

Oh, poor me whenever
-my seen, read unite, then
-slam hard, hurt, shatter
-my peace and pleasure!

I cannot divorce care
-that cause my troubles!

I cannot and could not
-ignore her, pretend:
- "Everything is OK! "
