Corruption, A Way Of Life Poem by Akham Nilabirdhwaja Singh

If you don't speak in favor of corruption
you will have a few friends and supporters
for the society so infested with corruption.
If you don't join the discussions which, minister
or officer to meet, what amount to pay
for a favorable place of transfer,
to get a job, to get promotion
to get a contract, or a supply order
amongst the people you are an odd man.
If you don't join a gossip amongst friends
how to make money without work
you will have a few friends.
You can write about a corruption free society
in the local newspapers
speak about it in public meetings angrily.
But If you speak decrying corruption
(for one need not do what he writes or says)
in the locality and amongst the people
you are discarded being an odd man.
In reality people think corruption as a way of life
means of livelihood for the poor and means
to get rich quickly which in the society rife.
