Coronavirus Lock-Down Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Coronavirus Lock-Down

Rating: 5.0

(Elderly in lock-down,2020)

No family or friends to visit
Grandchildren to kiss and hug
Remaining home
Afraid of unseen epidemic.

Food ordered over internet
Delivered by supermarkets
Sanity threatened by loneliness
Hours passing slowly, days never ending.

Neighbours, good Samaritans
Knock on door wearing face masks
Asking can they do anything to help
Get groceries and medical prescriptions.

Watch TV, listen to radio, read books
Mind needs stimulation
Loneliness and depression overwhelm
Thousands daily falling victim
Will the coronavirus never be overcome?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Lyn Paul 29 October 2020

The elderly were the ones who taught us so much and went without for us. They needed so little yet we need and want for material goods more than ever. Over the world the virus has been shocking to see. Lets hope a vaccine will arrive and bring life to us all again.
