Cooked Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Cooked

Cooked

Years ago, in days gone
-when wood burned
-and bush cooked
-peoples' food
-smells ranged and varied
-sources were plenty
-spices too many
-to add tastes
-delicious were smells
-mouths watered
-danced smokes
-and canvas of space was shapeless
-painting were of herbs burned…

Then, summer and winter
-differed in temperature

Summer sun was ruthless
-cooked fruits to grass
-in adding to the scents
-were helpful

And today reclaimed sun kingdom
-air was filled with essence
-of grass cut, uncut,

They varied and differed
-one was cool and fresh
-other one like cooked food
-kind of nice, welcoming

Both held their slogans
- "Great is nature's Mom! "
