Convincement Ceremonies Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Convincement Ceremonies

From podiums near and far,
'Convincement' ceremonies...
Will be delivered to expect,
People listening to hear them...
Are easily persuaded,
From a truth betrayed.

And on and on...
In high definition.
Sweetened with a gloss that blinds.
Redefining reality.
At any cost paid,
To glitter and emboss.
With a persistence to insist,
A truth to live it as it is...
Not only is an illusion.
But also an attempt to prevent,
What has been fictioned...
From lives to keep it precious,
Completely destroyed...
Until no longer found to exist.

"And people...
What is it that we live for and expect? "

-DELUSION! -

"WHAT IS IT WE MUST PROTECT? "

-DELUSION! -

"SAY IT AGAIN.
LOUD TO MAKE IT HEARD AND KNOWN."

-DELUSION! DELUSION! DELUSION! -

"Amen.
Now...
Let us all begin,
Defending our lives.
Against a truth we must defy."

Definitely a delusion from both sides. Policy should dictate choices made. Not some fancy candy for the eyes or ears. Thanks for sharing this enlightening poem.
